Stonehenge Rocks!!!!

Stonehenge was started being built 5000 years ago. There are many myths around the reason for stonehenge being there, one of them is that the devil bought the rocks from a ladies garden and dropped them there. Another is that king Arthur's father is buried there. Nobody really knows for sure how they got there or why they are there. Some of the rocks weigh as much as 45 tons (90,000 lbs). They were brought here from 400 kms away. 40% of the stones have been removed from the site. We took a double decker bus to get there and then toured Old Sarum (the old town site on our way back).

Double decker bus!

Here is a double decker bus, I have never been in one that I remember. Today we traveled from Iceland to England, we are now in Salisbury. We walked around town, and toured a cathedral that was built in 1212.

Big church

This is the big church in Reykjavik, it's the tallest building in the city. It is suppose to be shaped like lava on the sides. The lava sides are suppose to protect the people from volcano eruptions and disaster. You can go up into the church and look down over the town. Inside you can see candles people have lit to make there wishes. The statue in front of it is Leifur Eiriksson he traveled with Christopher Columbus and was the first person to travel to iceland! The Icelandic people believe that he is the founder of Iceland so they have statues everywhere to thank him for what he has done!

Authentic Icelandic food

This is a traditional Icelandic meal. At the back of the table on the left is meat soup made from lamb and smoked lamb on rye flatbread. On the right is a smelt bagel with cheese, ham, egg, and creamy white sauce. At the front of the table on the left is a combo plate with smoked trout with cottage cheese on rye bread, mashed fish with potato on rye bread, bean salad and jellied
sheep head on rye flatbread. On the right is meat soup with cheese on rye bread. We all tasted everything, the jellied sheep head was salty! Deklan said it was because of the brain matter, he said this as my mom was taking a bite, I thought she was about to puke!

The blue lagoon

This is how our hair looked after the blue lagoon, we woke up and look like we were animals with horns on our head. The minerals in the water dried it out, three days later we are still conditioning!

Water falls

This is one water fall out of 25 in a row, it is the biggest and it had a path so that you could walk behind it. If you look to the right of the water fall you can see us on the path.
This water fall is called Gullfoss. It was named after a lady who preserved the area from development. Its biggest water fall in Europe, and bigger than Niagra falls on the U.S side. It was very amazing.
